Jogoya Session at Starhill KL - PART IV

Well, this is the last part for my Jogoya Session. I didn't try all of their desserts there and was kinda regretted that I had so little desserts, but I'm still happy during the eating session. I really had fun with all the experiences at Jogoya. =)

Well, after tasting their incredibly aromatic cute little fresh coconuts (photos not taken), my friend and I was looking for something else to drink. We walked around the beverage section and saw one of the a staff making ice blended. There were different kinds of shakes and smoothies.

I took a very nice blue-ish colored lime shake. I tell you, it's very nice for those who love sour drinks. Their lime shake was so so nice and refreshing! The lime's aromatic with the sourish and sweet taste was just so cool.

We then ventured again to the beverage section. This time, I decided to try out their mango smoothie. You can really taste the richness of the mango flavor. Very very aromatic.

Someone ordered grilled mochi a.k.a Japanese sticky rice cake. It's the same like "chinese muachi" that we can get at the pasar malam (night market) here, but they grill them. To be honest, I prefer our chinese version cause I think I'm used to the soft version (tasted more delicate) versus the grilled (a little hard) one.

I don't know who took this Cheese Cake also as I remembered I only took 2 things from the dessert section, but it doesn't matter cause I'll eat it anyway, desserts leh!!! LOL. Ok, their cheese cake is not the best for me. I would say that their cheese cake was cheesy enough but not tasty enough. Don't know how to describe it. Just that the texture wasn't moist and firm enough.

Another dessert is the Tiramisu. Ermm, I would say that their Tiramisu was very ordinary. After trying out Italiannies' Tiramisu, I would say that there's nothing to comment much about this.

The 2 items that I took were the Mini Blueberry Cheese Tart and Chocolate Balls.

After trying their cakes, I wasn't giving much hope for the tarts and chooclate balls. But I was wrong! I took the chocolate balls cause one of my friend told me they were yummy. I tried and I do agree that they were chocolate-y. It wasn't too sweet, there were chocolate rice outside and the chocolate texture inside was very firm and moist. :)

This is my favourite dessert for the night. I tell you, their blueberry cheese tart was very delish!!! The cheese was soo cheesylicious and creamy, the blueberry wasn't too sour, and their tart's texture was very very crunchy and not hard~ I loved it!!! ^.^

Well, it was a thrill experience at Jogoya. It would be better if they could serves more Japanese desserts. A dessert lover here. :)

Jogoya Session at Starhill KL - PART III

Well, I've covered on some of the appetisers and random food that you can get in Jogoya. It's time for their VIP items. Muahaha (Evil Laugh)...I'm quite happy that we get the VIP ticket to order the available VIP items on each of the food section. But I think we forgot to take all photos of the VIP items. Hence, only a few will be posted here.

First to come, VIP King Crab soup. To be honest, nothing special about this soup. The soup tasted sweet, with king crab flavor and crab meat chunks in it. This soup item didn't get my vote.

My favorite VIP item, fish!!! I don't know what fish is this. Is it pomfret fish? All I know was I'm too busy eating it. We were given one big whole fish! I tell you, the fish was definitely fried to perfection. It was very crunchy on the outside, they gave (add seasons to) the fish ngam ngam enough flavor for you to taste without losing the fish's freshness. The meat was succulent, sweet (from the meat) and fresh. Love it!

Next, VIP Sashimi with Fishroe. I forgot what the black colored little bubbles-like thingy called (on the photo). Sashimi, again very fresh and nice. The fishroe were fresh and tasted great too! Got nothing to comment about it cause i loved both of them. Maybe just that sometimes can't really tahan the fishroe cause too salty. :P

VIP Eel wrapped with King Crab meat. I love the eel cause it was grilled perfectly. But, don't quite like this cause I think that the eel kinda conquered the dish as I can't really taste the crab meat much. The eel's flavor overpowered the crab meat. I kinda like the black beans though. LOL

Last but not least, VIP Salmon with Cheesy King Crab. Love this dish! The grilled salmon tasted very nice. The one in the middle of the pic (next to the salmon), was actually a mixture of king crab meat with other ingredients and then top with cheese, "kemudian bawa pergi bakar". Opps, why I suddenly write in Malay. Sorry, was kinda koo-koo cause thinking about the food while blogging it. :P The baked cheese with king crab mixture was very delish! Very cheesy indeed, together with the crab meat was actually superb. Love it.

Well, I'm not sure if this is another VIP item. But, I think it is? Not quite sure. This is a very nice cake which is beautifully decorated. It's actually green tea cake. Ermm, the decoration was nice. Taste wise, I don't think it's my cup of tea type of cake. The green tea were too much which makes my tounge tells me that it's a little bitter leh.

Jogoya Session at Starhill KL - PART II

In Part II of Jogoya Session, there'll be a random on what I've eaten. I was quite blur in searching for food. Don't know where to start from after the appetiser part. So, I hopped around from one section to another section and get the food that attracts me. Actually there are still plenty food that didn't manage to take photos.

Special Tofu. I forgot the name of it but it's definitely delicious. It's pretty cute by making them (using jelly containers) into flower shaped tofu. It was like some kind of seafood tofu in eggy sauce.

Phoenix ball. I took these because of the almond pieces! LOL. This is actually fish paste being shaped into balls and coated with almond pieces. The taste was pretty good. Crunchy and aromatic almond together with tasty fish paste definitely is a pretty good match.

Prawn Tenpura (Ebi tenpura) was one of my favourites. :) No doubt they were really crunchy and light on the outside. Inside were still hot and the prawns were very fresh~ Love it very much.

"Fish Tenpura" I call it. But it's like those that you can get when you order fish and chip. I'm being lured in taking them while I'm taking my favourite ebi tenpura. They do taste much more better than those fake fish and chip. The meat were tender and fresh. Outside were crunchy as well.

There were aso fried durian but I forgot to try as was busy with other sections. :( Felt quite sad that I didn't manage to take some of the fried durian.

I'm not sure if this is called pocket money or money pocket eh? Well, I forgot what was inside these pocket money already but I'm sure that it tasted nice. Forgot what's inside but remember that it tasted good??? I'm so weird.

Cheese Baked Escargots. Disappointed with it. Shouldn't have take so many of them. The cheese were so hard and the taste wasn't really nice. It's cold and the escargot wasn't so fresh. A big NO to these. Felt bad for Shujin as he loves escargots. Maybe we should head to Victoria Station for some nice escargots. :P

I made a claypot sort of thing for myself. Wee, there's mussels and vege in it. There's a few sauce to choose from when you choose the ingredients of claypot being placed at a section. Oh, there's a few mini stoves being placed on your table. So you just add in sauce into the claypot of raw food before you bring it back to your table to be cooked in the mini stove.

These mussels were really fresh. :)

Grilled eel. One of my friend's favourite. Not sure if he really loves it so much or he just loves taking this so much. LOL Cause he ordered this grilled eel for uncountable times that night. These eel tasted awesome~!!! I really love it. With the sauce and sesame on top of the eel, it was just so delish.

Last but not least, special soup. Don't know what's the name of it so just call it as special soup. Hehe. I need to tell you something, the bread/pastry on top of the cup is so so crunchy and it's freshly baked from the oven!!! I really love the bread/pastry. You can smell a strong scent of butter in the bread/pastry, it's so rich and it tasted a little sweet too. The soup in the cup were very creamy and flavorful. Dip the bread/pastry into the soup is just so yummy. I'm missing the bread/pastry right now.

Jogoya Session at Starhill KL - PART I

Sorry guys, this is another "long-time-ago" post. Went to Jogoya after working for SRG. It's like a after-work eating session to us. Yes, it's a very expensive eating session indeed. But, despite the $$$ we get for and the fact that I really really wanted to go Jogoya so badly, it's something that I can't miss isn't it? ;)

Well, we reached there about approximately 5.45pm? My friends were waiting at the Jogoya's entrance. And we are still waiting for others' arrival. When everyone reached, we were given two big round tables that are available inside those see through bamboo look-a-like walls. It's like we're being isolated from the outside world a.k.a others customers in Jogoya and those food sections.

We were the earliest group to reach there that day. I assume that's because it's a weekday? Without wasting any time, we looked through the items being displayed on the table.

Some Jogoya bloggers will mention about this, bull shaped metal clips. Number of your table is attached on the metal clips. What do you do with these metal clips thingy? Bring it along with you when you're visiting those different food sections. Most of the food sections have something that will be cook by the chefs there on the spot. So, if you want something to be cook, simply throw put the metal clip onto the respective bowl available. The chefs there will collect and cook the items you asked for. Your food will be serve to you and the metal clip will be given back to you so that you could continue making orders.

Since we have a total of 21 people going there, they gave my friend (the one who booked for the dinner) a VIP membership card. Therefore, we got the chance to try out the VIP items from any of the section. I can't wait to venture into their food sections at that time. Why? Cause it costs RM88++ per person leh, not cheap you know. Plus, I get to try their VIP items~! =)

So, which shall I start first??? I'm so into going back to Jogoya right now as I think that there's a wide selection of food, and they're all fresh!!! I got loads of items that I didn't get to try on that day too. I think I will divide this Jogoya post into 4 different sections. Part I will be appetisers, Part II will be random items, Part III will be the VIP items, and last but not least Part IV for drinks and desserts. Was kinda sad cause did not take many other food photos. But, never mind. @_@

Due to CNY is coming that time, we got ourselves a complimentary Yee Sang~!!! (Yeah~!) The plate of Yee Sang looked rather colorful to me. I did not any good feeling on that plate of Yee Sang. As usual, all the good wishes and bla bla bla are being thrown during the "lou sang" session.

After the "Lou Sang" session, each of use took some of the Yee Sang and, oh my goodness~! Their Yee Sang were delicious~ Trust me, I did not expect their Yee Sang to be yummy. Really! LOL, but their Yee Sang did give me a good sign that their good are delish.

So, took 4 bowls of appetisers to try out as they looked cute and refreshing. First was the Kimchi Tako. Basically, there were octopus mixed with some kimchi. If you ask me I really don't know how it tasted. I think it's pretty much common hence couldn't remember if it's tasty or not.

Next, King Crab Mushroom. I must say that the mixture of the king crab with the mushroom pieces, with some nuts were actually quite nice. The aromatic mushroom and nuts helps to bring out more flavor to it. :)

We also took a bowl of the Mynmar King Crab. Well, it's nothing special. Just that there were some pineapples with crab meat in the mini bowl. Nothing spectacular about it.

Last but not least, Sweet and sour Clams. Although they sliced the clams into quite thin slices, but I find the overall of it was quite nice. A little bit of sweet and sour mixed with the thinly sliced clams were actually quite refreshing and yummy. Definitely a good appetiser. :)

Now, my all time favourite and a "can't miss it" item whenever I'm in a Japanese buffet restaurant, Sashimi!!! I tell you, their sashimi were really FRESH and tasty~! Dip them into the wasabi, yummylicious~ I'm in heaven.

I also took some prawns as they do looked tempting and fresh to me. No doubt, they were really really sweet, succulent, and crunchy. Oishii~!

Vietnam Kitchen at Cheras, Leisure Mall

This is another CNY post. Again, an overdue post. Went out for lunch with my friends during CNY at Vietnam Kitchen. Well, I've made a Vietnam Kitchen post before this some time ago.

At first, we do not know where to have lunch. Since we are at Leisure Mall, it will normally be Vietnam Kitchen or Wong Kok Char Chan Teng. The moment we reached Wong Kok's main entrance, the waiter asked us how many people. Looking at the huge crowd inside the place, we knew we will have to wait for seats. So, we decided to jump over to Vietnam Kitchen for lunch.

Well, this is the first time I'm having Yee Sang at Vietnam Kitchen. Their Yee Sang looked so colourful~! Priced at RM38.80, there were lots of vegetables and some fruits like cucumber slices, chestnuts, carrots, dragon fruits, and many more.

After all the wishes being thrown in while mixing the Yee Sang, all of us munched on it. It was okay, but not fantastic. It tasted quite funny at first. I think the pieces of crackers "keropok" being served spoiled the Yee Sang. The crackers were actually not crispy anymore and tasted quite weird.

Moving on, below are what we had for lunch. I forgot to take photos of other food as I was too lazy. Moreover, I wouldn't be able to try them if I take the photos. So, I better take photos that I actually tried eating them. LOL

This is what my friend ordered. Lemongrass Chicken Chop with Rice. Priced at RM9.90, I think it's pretty worth it because of how well it tasted. My friend gave me a small piece of the chicken. I tried and loved it~! It was blasting with flavors and so tender. It was just so tasty. I wish I ordered that. :)

But, I'm still happy with what I ordered that day!!! Since I'm not into rice that afternoon, I decided to order the Sliced Chicken and Spring Roll with Vermicelli. Priced at RM10.90,the bowl consisted of vermicelli, lots of shredded cucumbers, raw bean sprouts, green veges, slices of chicken, one whole fried spring roll, and being topped with crushed roasted nuts. I must say that I really love it very much.

Again, the chicken were very very flavourful and tender. I don't know whether they grill them or what, but they're just awesome! Mix everything up together, I find it a very healthy meal to be with all the greens and wonderful chicken, spring roll mixed with aromatic peanuts.

Another friend of mine ordered the Vietnamese Fried Rice which costs RM9.90. At one glance, the plate of fried rice may look plain and ordinary. Without looking any further, I tried one spoon of the rice. I would describe the rice as savory, delish and enough of "wok hei". A nice plate of fried rice should be accompanied best with a fried egg. Yummy~ (Especially if it's a sunny side up~!) :P

Sek Yuen Restaurant at Pudu

Went for a dinner with my family during CNY. Forgot which day, but it isn't important. The most important are the food. Wahaha..I'm so happy that I get to eat at Sek Yuen cause it's one of my favourite restaurant. So, let's get on to the food!!!

First to arrive was of course the famous "Yee Sang"! The Yee Sang was full of blasting flavors, every bite of it was just so good. From the raw fish, crunchy bites, to fresh shredded veges, tasty sauce. It was just so amazing. I don't know how to say it but they got extra unique flavors than the others. This is absolutely the best Yee Sang that I've ever tasted since last time until now.

My dad had pre-ordered two dishes as there were some dishes that need to be book a few days earlier (I think) upon your actual dining date. The two dishes are known as (杏花鸡) Almond Chicken with fish paste and (八宝鸭) Eight Treasure Duck. So, here they are.

Almond Chicken. This dish was a little different from the one I had from another stall. At Sek Yuen, they only have the chicken skin on top, and the bottom was fish paste with almonds. Where as the other stall I tried was chicken skin, with half chicken meat and fish paste. The other one is called (白花鸡). Back to the Almond Chicken. The skin was really crunchy and the fish paste was flavourful. At one bite, you could taste the soft and spongy fish paste with crunchy skin and aromatic almonds at the same time. I like it. :)

Next was (八宝鸭) Eight Treasure Duck. At first look, it was a normal cooked duck being presented on the plate. After a while.

Voila! The duck was stuffed with many different ingredients such as (白果) "bak guo", (连子) "lin ji", mushrooms, and many more. The meat were tender, the ingredients inside were soft and flavorful too. Plus the soup was so nice to drink as it was kind of sweet with rich duck flavor and other ingredient's fragrant. Yummy.

Next up was stir fry fish with spring onions and ginger. This is another nice dish as the sauce was prefect with the fresh fish. It has the "wok hei" too~! I love stir fry with enough wok hei. Very nice, another delish sauce to go with your rice.

This dish is called "蟹 jou". I don't quite remember but I think there were crab meat inside since the name of this dish has "". :P I think inside there were some vege too. Sorry for the "I think" cause I actually don't quite remember, it tasted like some hand made meat balls but delicately it was tasty and delightful. It's crunchy on the outside, inside was hot and a bit soft too.

Prawns!!! This prawn dish got another vote from me. I think it's called "gon jin ha lok". The prawns were covered with enough garlics and aromatic sauce. It was very nice as the prawns absorb the sauce and you could taste the freshness of the prawns too. We brought over the prawns for dinner and asked them to cook for us. (My mom bought these prawns for CNY~!).

Last but not least, it is the (排骨皇) Pork Ribs King. My dad ordered this specially for my cousin bro cause he loves this very much. The taste was again, it was savory. But, some of the meat were tender and some are not. I think it's because the differnet size of the meat pieces, hence some were overcooked and some were just nice. But, overall it was still ok. Again!!! This dish is a very nice dish to go with your white rice. The meat were very well marinated too. Yummy-licious.

    Year 2007 CNY Cookies

I know it's a bit too late to post about CNY stuffs as it's a past now. But, I still wanna share it. :)

Anyways, I've made quite little cookies this year. I've only made two type of cookies and helped my aunt to do another three types of cookies.

For the two cookies that I made, I used the recipes from All Recipes . The two types of cookies I made was Beth's Chocolate Chip Cookies and Crisp Oatmeal Cookies .

I have no regrets using a different recipe for my Chocolate Chips Cookies as there're yummy! Everytime I bake a cake or have cookie session, I would reduce the amount of sugar from what the recipe stated. If I were to follow exactly to the recipe, my bakings would turned out too sweet for me and my family's liking.

Same goes to these two recipes, I deducted almost quarter or half of the amount of sugar the recipe stated.Well, I must admit that I don't bake that often.

The Chocolate Chip Cookies actually turned out to be quite soft, or uncooked cause the recipe said do not over bake it. Moreover, my kitchen's old oven had problem telling me what exactly the degrees are. So, adjusting the correct heat would be a problem. After feeling dissatisfied about what turned out to my batches of chocolate chip cookies, I lost confident in baking Crisp Oatmeal Cookies. But I need to move on cause there isn't much time left for me to bake. CNY is coming very soon at that time!!!

I baked the oatmeal cookies as well. So, I did exactly from what the recipe tells except for reducing the amount of sugar. This time, the cookies turned out really crispy and light. I was quite happy with it. It's not that sweet, so it'll be suitable for my dad, a diabetic to consume it. But, I felt that the oatmeal didn't really appear to be what oatmeal should be. As in, the cookies was ok but lack of aroma. Perhaps I should heat the oatmeal up or give it some roast first before baking them.

Back to the chocolate chip cookies. I decided to re-bake them. Attention, I re-bake them 2 days after they're made ~! LOL. I have no regret again to re-bake them at all. This time, I baked them in my aunt's new oven. As this new oven allows me to adjust which directions the heat comes out from, it makes better baking...I guess. I started to re-bake the cookies on the sides where I placed them at the bottom of the oven, then shift them to an upper layer in the oven and to bake the center part of the cookies. The results, the cookies were super crispy and nice!!! :) I'm so glad about it.

This is what my aunt baked. The old and traditional Butter cookies that we used to had since I'm young.

It's definately one of my favorite for butter cookies. :)

Peanut cookies that my aunt won't fail baking them every single year. This time around she used a different recipe though.

This new recipe is not bad, but I preferred her old recipe as the old ones were more moist (not so hard), more aromatic and soft. She used to make flower shaped peanut cookies last time.

My aunt also baked Famous Amous type of cookies but I forgot to take pics of them. :) My aunt didn't give me any of her recipes too. So, no recipes for her cookies. But I guess no one would bother want recipes for cookies now as CNY are already over. :P
